Government Lock Down Notice

Dear Jolly Harbour community,

As we are sure you’re aware the government of Antigua and Barbuda has declared a State of Emergency in an effort to curb the spread of the Coronavirus – COVID 19.

A 24-hour curfew starting Thursday, April 2 from 12:01 a.m. to Thursday, April 9, 2020 has been imposed.  As per the government, this time period will be reviewed and may be extended. 

This curfew applies inside all of Jolly Harbour and will be strictly enforced. Any breaches of this curfew will be immediately reported to the police.

There Is to be no movement during the day by non-essential workers including inside the Jolly Harbour community.

CDAL has been issued permits for internal essential workers in order to monitor / maintain essential functions inside Jolly Harbour so you may see some familiar faces during this period. These essential persons are here for monitoring and for emergencies. They are not here for normal day to day maintenance tasks or requests. We ask that you respect this.

As per the guidelines from the government, persons are to be confined to their places of residence during the 24-hour curfew period.

These protocols may change as the government reviews the situation with the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

As for Jolly Harbour internal services, garbage collection has been deemed an essential service and will continue as such. Security is also an essential service and will continue. We do ask that you refer to the revised security pass procedure sent earlier this week. We have asked the security team to continue requesting passes at the points of entry to ensure everyone’s safety. 

Select businesses will be allowed to operate between the recommended hours with strict adherence to the established social distancing regime. These businesses shall operate between the hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Only 2 persons are allowed in private vehicles and must have valid reasons for being in public)

– Fish and Meat Markets, Abattoirs

– Vegetable and Livestock Farmers/Agricultural produce vendors

– Supermarkets/Community Shops/Bakeries/Wholesalers

– Critical Cleaning Services, Sanitation workers

– Gas Stations

– Wholesalers, Grocery Stores, Community Shops

– Authorized Delivery Services of Essential Items (meals, groceries, medicine, water, fuel)

– Hotels /Villas & Ancillary Staff (gaming rooms, spas, gyms, tennis courts and any other recreational services provided by hotels are not allowed.  In-room dining only)

– Doctors / Veterinarians

This is a stated national emergency for the country. This applies to all of Jolly Harbour. The police will be enforcing as such. We ask that you abide by these rules for the period outlined to ensure the safety and security for all in and around Jolly Harbour. We at CDAL will continue to monitor the security team but we need full cooperation from the community. It is imperative that you work with us in marking the community more secure. We ask that you follow the directions regarding the state of emergency and stay inside during this period in order to keep Jolly and the country as a whole safe during this period.
